5:30 pm
October 1 to March 31 - 10.00 am until 4:00 pm
Closed : Nov. 1, Dec. 24, 25, 31, Jan. 1 .
Guided tours only, duration approx. 35 min. Tours involve climbing 165 steps and
181 steps down. Access by foot, by small bus or by horse drawn carriages from base of hill
in Hohenschwangau village. Less able visitors should check first.
Charges: Adults EUR 9,80
Children under 6 are free.
Children under 18 accompanied by adults are free

Hohenschwangau Castle
restored 1832 to 1836 by Crown Prince Maximilian of Bavaria, Ludwig's father,
slightly nearer to hotel.
This is the Summer family home of the Bavarian Royals and the house that Ludwig's
great friend, the composer Richard Wagner (The Ring Cycle, Lohengrin, Siegfried, etc.),
stayed at frequently.
See Wagner's bedroom and superb piano at the castle as well as many Royal
furnishings and objet d'art.
A very interesting visit, well worth a diversion, with an excellent shop for books,
CDs and other high quality souvenirs.Opening times;

Guided tours only, duration of tour approx. 35 mins., access is easier than
Neuschwanstein (option of horse drawn carriage to lower main gate) but about 90 steps up
and down inside. Castle environs, garden and views can be enjoyed without steps, but steep
sloping ground.

Linderhof, built
1870 to 1879 by King Ludwig II of Bavaria, is about 50 kms (about 30 miles) from our
hotel. It is the smallest and the only one of Ludwig's many grand projects actually to be
completed during his lifetime. Oberammergau
(Passion Play)
About 40 kms (25 miles) from our town. Famous throughout the world, it has been performed
by the villagers of Oberammergau every 10 years since the 1630's More than 2,200 men,
women and children born there will take part in this spectacularly moving event depicting
Christ's Passion and Resurrection.
The Musical "Dream King",
opening
March 2000 at the spectacular new theatre at Forgensee, is only 2 kms from us. The first
musical ever written about the magical character of the area. All new songs, choreography
and fabulous settings feature in this new production about Ludwig II, the Dream King, who
loved music and art more than war.
The famous Octoberfest in Munich. Every
year, from the last week of September until the end of the first week of Oktober, the
world's largest Beer Festival takes place attracting visitors from far and wide to sample
the region's great speciality. Fun, music, dancing and, of course, sampling the brews for
two whole weeks. Legendary! Base yourself at the Rubezahl, go to these festivity and we
can offer you relaxion and recuperation !
